Yes. No signup, no time limit, no step limit, no payment. Your data stays in your browser. PNG and CSV exports are free for everyone.
Do I need to create an account?

What is a swimlane diagram?
A swimlane diagram is a flowchart split into horizontal lanes, one per role or team. Each step sits in the lane of the person or team that owns it. It makes hand-offs across roles visible at a glance, which is why it is the format of choice for cross-functional processes like hiring, onboarding, incident response, or invoice approval.
Where is my data stored?
Only in your browser. The chart auto-saves to your browser local storage. Nothing is sent to any server. If you clear your browser data, the chart is lost, so export a JSON copy if you need a backup.
Can I import steps from Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Save your process as a CSV with columns Step, Lane, Type, ConnectsTo, Label, then paste it into the import box. Use a pipe to list multiple destinations and labels, for example ConnectsTo set to Approve|Reject and Label set to yes|no.
What shape types are supported?
Four shapes at launch: process (rounded rectangle), decision (diamond), start (green pill), and end (red pill). The shape is set per step in the side panel.
Can a decision have more than two outgoing branches?
Yes. A decision can have as many outgoing connections as you need, each with its own label. Two branches is the most common case (yes and no), but the tool does not limit you.
What export formats are supported?
PNG (high resolution) and CSV (re-importable) are free for everyone. SVG, PDF, and JSON exports unlock with the optional premium upgrade, paid once for lifetime access on every ClicknFile free tool.
Can I change the lane colors?
Yes. Click any lane header and pick a color from the palette. The lane stripe and any step that inherits the lane color update right away. Each step can also override its own color from the side panel.
Does it work on a phone or iPad?
Yes. The chart scrolls horizontally on small screens. Editing is easier on tablet and desktop where the side panel has room for the connect-to selectors.
Is there a limit on how many steps I can add?
No artificial limit. The tool stays smooth up to a few hundred steps.
Does it work offline?
Once the page is loaded, the tool keeps working without an internet connection. Auto-save still writes to local storage, and PNG export still works.
